Brett and Joana came over from Melbourne to celebrate their wedding day down by the river of Nanga Bush Camp in the woods of Dwellingup.
There are so many reasons why I loved this day, they brought in so many non-traditional elements, such as them walking down the aisle together to the sounds of the Murray River, to abandoning having a bridal party, first dance or a cake.
Also, they DIY’d almost everything! From the dress, to the flowers, to the decorations. An alternative to confetti, they used the leaves from the forest so after they were thrown they returned to the earth. AND, they cooked all their food themselves! Including home-made pickles that I probably ate way too many of. Seeing both families work hard in the back making the food for the guests showed how communal this event is.
It really showed that at the end of the day, this is a celebration of love and the union of two families.
